O CAFE - Story Line/Mastery

The main character finds out he has 4th stage lymphoma and will die shortly. Instead of waiting to die amongst friends and family, he decides to have a sending off party. He will leave and, like a cat, find a place to die. He basically goes on an adventure.

Another idea:
The idea of mastery - everyone has something they've mastered - finding unique abilities. The one character doesn't know what he's doing there or what he's good at - the people who are good at their instruments teach him what is great about it.
